Here are the basic steps to working NOW ...
(1) Target Companies making money
(a) Use the Desperately Seeking Temps (tm) Report to find out what temp agencies are looking for people with your skills and register with those agencies, and/or;
(b) use the resources on this site to find out what Companies in the industry you are interested in are making money. Call the companies you find that are making lots of money now and ask them what temp agencies they are using and register with those temp agencies.
(2)Register with as many temp agencies as you can, if there is ever a day you are not working, use that day to register with more agencies. Being registered with 5 temps agencies is not a lot of temps agencies. When you are registered with more than 30 temp agencies, maybe I will listen to you cry about being registered with a lot of agencies and your getting no work. If you register with a thousand temp agencies and still don't get work, create a LLC to use as your own temp agency.
(3)Call all of your agencies telling them you are available for work on Friday afternoons. It is usually Friday afternoon when temp agencies are trying to fill orders for the next week. Other good times to call with your availability is at 8:30am or 9:00 am (for am work); at about 4:00pm or 4:30pm for second shift work and at about 10:00pm or 11:00pm for third shift work. It is sometimes good to call an agency at these times because the temp counselor dispatcher that comes into the agency for second shift may not know that you are available for second shift (same for third shift dispatcher).
(4)Once you are getting work and making lots of money, take 10% of what you make and send it to me (express mail). |
